Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is a surgical procedure in which a thin telescope is placed into the abdominal cavity. Many gynecological procedures can be performed using this technique, including tubal sterilization, ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cyst removal, treatment for endometriosis, and hysterectomy. In addition, laparoscopy can be used to diagnose conditions such as endometriosis, adhesions (scar tissue), and fibroids. It is often performed to seek a cause for pelvic pain.

Hysterectomy Surgery

A hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus. There are several ways this can be performed including vaginal hysterectomy, laparoscopic hysterectomy or abdominal hysterectomy. After a complete exam and history, a Seasons Women’s Care physician will discuss the most appropriate choice for you based on your diagnosis, physical and personal needs.

Most abdominal hysterectomies can be performed through a low horizontal incision. On average, patients who have an open procedure will spend 2-3 nights in the hospital and require a 6 week recovery period.

Tubal Ligation Surgery

A tubal ligation is a surgical procedure that involves tying off or blocking the fallopian tubes to prevent fertilization. The procedure is done to prevent pregnancy and is considered a permanent means of birth control. There are a number of methods for performing a tubal ligation.
